Culinary

Cooking too?

Yeah baby. I love cooking, baking, and food history.

2025 and 2026 – a few of my favorites…

hazelnut chocolate cake, chilaquiles, and blueberry/ginger/vanilla gummy candies

Sometime in 2009

I wanted to attend a cake decorating class at the boardwalk in Shreveport, LA

I did that for weeks and became a Wilton Certified cake decorator.

Around that time I opened Claire’s Cupcakes. What would eventually result in the small business I have today.

From there, I worked that Claire’s Cupcakes business off and on for years. Never really getting serious about it.

Until, at my first undergraduate program, I suffered an injury in sports….

2017

From that sports injury I decided to get another job (I was working as a lab tech, RA, TA, and tutor at the time, but I needed the actual money).

So I applied to a pastry chef position at the third party cafeteria on the school campus.

I got the job. I think they liked telling their stakeholders that they had a student of the school working there – made them seem more “in-touch” with the student body.

It took my skills and stretched them. It was also pretty fun creatively.

From there I worked in catering positions, fast food kitchens as a baker, and for a hotel chain as a pastry worker.

I even attended culinary school online….

Now? I run a small business (more so for fun and to have something creatively fulfilling than anything else), I’m working on a cookbook, and I helped edit a cookbook that’s coming out this year.
