Congressional Campaigns…
I worked on a congressional campaign with Data Decoded. What did I do, you may ask? I worked as a policy advisor for a progressive candidate out of California where I was brought in to evaluate their existing policy frameworks, recommend better ways to communicate their existing policies, and identify gaps in their policy platform.
This was the table of contents for the document I sent them:

It was really cool to be able to engage with policy at that level and, in the same breath, science communication, public works, and social support.
What do I mean by social support? What good is your science if you can’t explain why you’re doing it or why anyone should care? The person who can’t make rent doesn’t give a shit about your fancy way of making ibuprofen to increase profit margins for Bayer… The person who can’t afford groceries for the week is going to be hard pressed to find a fuck to give about the updates in rocketry… science, engineering, technology – these things are supposed to serve the public. I’m not saying you can’t do cool science just because, and there is quite frankly enough money to go around that people SHOULDN’T have to pick between “cool” science that pushes boundaries and “useful” science that keeps the world running… but here we are.
Where was I going with this? Eat the rich.

Girl we got a whole-ass LLC out here.
It’s nice to have something just for me that’s solely dependent on me and my ability to succeed or fail.
